Even with the twins (babies #3 and #4) I still feel uneasy when they are upstairs in their cribs while we are downstairs. With our old place we really didn’t have much of a need for baby monitors because our place was small enough that if anyone made a noise, we all heard it – no matter where we were! But with our new place, I love all the space, but I feel confined to the living room (which is next to the stairs) when the babies are upstairs at nap time. With Keeley usually not on the same sleep schedule as the twins, I hate that we can’t go outside or even play in the playroom. I’m fortunate to have the opportunity to review VTech’s Safe & Sound Full Color Video & Audio Monitors.
VTech takes child safety seriously; In honor of National Baby Safety Month in September, they partnered with an independent survey company to find out what parents thought about baby safety, purchasing trends and how items like their VTech baby monitors fit your family’s needs. The results showed that parents ranked the baby monitor as the most important baby product after clothing even if money is tight. Here you can read all the results of the safety survey.
There are tons of features of the VTech Safe & Sound monitors, but here are just of few that I found particularly great:
*Temperature Sensor – Parent Unit displays baby’s room temperature. Be assured the conditions are ideal for restful sleep. We have not quite figured out the regulation of temperature in our new house yet. We have two air conditioners and two furnaces, so it’s really comforting to know that even though we might be comfortable down stairs, we can also make sure that it is comfortable for the twins upstairs too!
*Talk-Back Intercom System – Remotely communicate with your baby from the parent unit to the baby unit. Soothe your baby from another room or even from outdoors. This is great because one verse of ”Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star” does wonders in this house!
*Wall Mount Bracket – Safely view your baby from a fixed location. Bracket includes a cord management system for storing excess power cord. Swivel, tilt and zoom the camera for the ideal view. Since Charlie and Zoe are sharing a room, we knew that we were going to have to get creative with where we place the camera.
*Extended Range – Up to 1,000 feet of range allows you to feel safe and connected to your child while you go about your day. I LOVE this because I can be anywhere in the house or yard with Keeley, Landon, or by myself and know that I can keep an eye on the twins while they rest.
*Rechargeable battery with low battery alert in parent unit. It is awesome that the monitor charges the battery while plugged in; we know that whenever we take the monitor with us that it will be fully charged and we won’t be scrambling around for batteries!
Our VTech Safe & Sound monitor came in a box displaying the camera, monitor and full of details about all its great features.
Another great feature is that the camera is adjustable so you can get the perfect angle to view your lil one.
Like I said, we knew that we were going to have to get creative, but TJ found the perfect spot an angle to have the camera mounted on the wall in the twins’ room to be able to see both their cribs.
And now when they are resting we can see them wherever we are!
If we want to switch the layout of their room we really don’t have to worry because you can use up to 4 different cameras with the VTech Safe & Sound monitor. I think we might have to get one to keep in the playroom and Landon & Keeley’s room!
Not only do we have the visual of our kids to give us peace of mind while we are in a different room, but the VTech Safe & Sound monitor is incredibly sensitive to sound as well. So, when we were watching TV and Charlie started fussing, we could hear it from our monitor (that was in the kitchen) and I made it up to soothe him before he woke Zoe up!
And having the VTech Safe & Sound monitor set up makes me feel more confident in having someone else watching the kids; I know now that no matter what the bigger kids are doing, or where they are at, a babysitter would be able to hear and see the twins too.
BUY IT: You can purchase your own VTech Safe & Sound monitor from VTech online, or you can find it at major chain stores.
Mommy and 4 Peas in a Pod Disclosure: I received the VTech Safe & Sound monitor in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are 100% mine and were not influenced in any way; they may differ from yours. I did NOT receive any monetary compensation for this review.

This is awesome. I love that you can mount it on the wall so that you can see both kids at once. Baby monitors sure have come a long way…lol

I would have definitely gotten then if my kids were still younger. Great way to monitor kids when you may have to step out the room.

I wish we would’ve gotten a video monitor. The hubby said no though, so it was the standard monitor for us.

I really like the idea of this! My youngest is 1 now, but with a 1 yr old, 3 yr old, and 4 yr old with autism, I really think that we could still use this for a while!

That is awesome how you can hang it and see the entire room! This would come in handy for older kiddos too – when they’re being too quiet in their room and you know they are up to something! LOL

That is so cool! I love how high tech it is, our monitor is so bad we can’t plug things in near it without messing it up!

That is absolutely amazing. I wish I would’ve had something like that when my kids were little. I could never sleep because I was so paranoid, always going to check on them. VTech rocks!!
