Click: An Online Love Story {Book Review}

I love a good story. I love a good romance story even more. And add some comedy into that romance story then I’ve hit the trifecta! And that is exactly what Click: An Online Love Story by Lisa Becker is: a romantic comedy, set in today’s computer-aged world.

Synopsis:  Fast approaching her 30th birthday and finding herself not married, not dating, and without even a prospect or a house full of cats, Renee Greene, the heroine of Click: An Online Love Story, reluctantly joins her best guy pal on a journey to find love online in Los Angeles. The story unfolds through a series of emails between Renee and her best friends (anal-compulsive Mark, the overly-judgmental Ashley and the over-sexed Shelley) as well as the gentlemen suitors she meets online. From the guy who starts every story with “My buddies and I were out drinking one night,” to the egotistical “B” celebrity looking for someone to stroke his ego, Renee endures her share of hilarious and heinous cyber dates. Fraught with BCC’s, FWD’s and inadvertent Reply to All’s, readers will root for Renee to “click” with the right man.

My thoughts: I really enjoyed this book. At first I had to get used to reading the email format, but quickly caught on and couldn’t put it down. Seriously, I brought my kindle with me to bed to keep reading, that’s how addictive Click: An Online Love Story is! Lisa does a great job of making you feel like you are a part of the story, and I’m sure some of the situations that Renee and her friends get themselves into are relatable to most people. I know that there were times when I couldn’t help but laugh out loud because I had done something similar, or know someone who did.  It is a quick read to help put you in a good mood. And while I am happy that I have been out of the dating market for almost 8 years now, Click: An Online Love Story made me appreciate all the frogs I kissed to get my prince!
